The spatial contexts can often dictate art practice, and this particular context is governed by socio-economic factors. Which is that social strata art caters to, when the access to spaces where art is displayed/exhibited is limited due to various parameters.
When art starts moving away from these spaces, and tries to intervene in within the everyday, what form does it takeā¦
Description of proposed project(s):
- The project attempts to experiment with methods in processing and exhibiting art, and especially with the idea of site specific creativity and also, very importantly, its outreach.
- Identify possible spaces of intervention, which may include certain neighborhoods, domestic spaces, apartments before occupation, etc.
- To begin with- a house within a cluster settlement.
Possible interventions in the space:
- Invite artists to intervene within this space, imagining their creative processes as well as products to be conscious of the space. Perhaps work with domestic nature of the house itself.
- Understanding the typology of the settlement, perhaps the interactions and the work itself, is not constrained within the space but becomes more interactive and may be conceptualized to include the community participation, at some level.
- Functioning as an interface, thus allowing more people to find their place in existing and experimental cultural discourse and get involved in it if they choose.
- Community programme/functions be integrated, the space can alternately start housing their youth meeting displays, promotions for various local organizations and courses, etc.
A similar method can be experimented at different locations, toying with the idea of the site-sensitivity.
Outreach and Participation with other KVR participants:
The other KVR participants will be invited to use the space to develop their interventions.
